Meet the HART cats you can currently sponsor…
-

Albert
Albert is a sweet, dark brown senior tabby with extra toes on all four paws. He came to HART through no fault of his own. Though initially sad, he’s now relaxed and shows his gentle, affectionate nature. Albert loves human attention, catnip toys, and curling up in a cozy cat tree. While he came in with his brother, Theodore, they aren’t bonded, though they’d make a great pair if adopted together. Albert has some age-related needs (eye care, occasional fluids, and a limited-ingredient duck diet). Albert is waiting for his quiet and loving forever home.
-
Amelia
Amelia is a beautiful senior white and gray cat who was surrendered due to a family change. Originally a feral cat, she first appeared at her former home as a young mother with kittens and gradually adjusted to indoor life, eventually bonding closely with her owner. Since arriving at HART, Amelia has made incredible progress. Initially shy, she has blossomed with the support of the Shy Angels team, now enjoying playtime and eagerly coming over for treats—her favorite! Amelia would thrive in a quiet, loving home with a patient person who will let her continue to feel safe and loved.
-

Annabelle
Annabelle is a gorgeous long-haired girl that is starting to relax in her new digs at HART. She has been very nervous but does like to play and seems to want love and attention but can also strike out when she is scared or unhappy. She is a pretty passive girl with her roommates and likes to keep to herself. Our Shy Angels socialization team is working with Annabelle to show her that she does not need to be scared of us. They have made strides even getting her to eat treats from their hands or play with a feather and the laser pointer toys.
-

Basil
Basil is an adorable young tabby with lovely gray coloring and a cute, pale pink-orange nose. She was surrendered to HART when her former guardian could no longer provide the care she needed. When Basil arrived, she was experiencing significant fur loss and GI issues, due to food allergies. Now that she is on medications and an appropriate diet, she is doing really well and is becoming the outgoing, playful cat she wants to be. A prescription diet for her allergies will take care of her issues. Basil is very sweet and gentle and does well with the other laid-back kitties in her room. This girl will be so happy when she finds a calm, loving, cat-savvy home. Everyone adores her!
-

Chris
Chris is a handsome gray and white cat who returned to HART when his owner’s health declined. Curious and observant, Chris enjoys watching his surroundings and is a gentle sweetheart who craves love, especially from his feline friends—he’s often found curled up beside them. When nervous, he paces in leftward circles, a behavior believed to be neurological. Though very fearful of being picked up, Chris is affectionate if his boundaries are respected. He also loves to play with toys, either with other cats or on his own. He’s looking for a home where he can have a kitty snuggle buddy to cuddle with.
-

Crush
Crush is a very handsome and active, diabetic cat who transferred to HART from a rescue in MA. When he arrived at HART, he had some medical hurdles to overcome, including having his eye removed due to a tumor (melanoma). Missing his eye does not slow him down at all. Friendly and social, this orange tabby boy loves getting attention from everyone. We consider him to be a cat with no sense of personal space—he often just pushes himself into the middle of whatever is happening in his vicinity! In 2023 Crush entered our foster program where he is enjoying his humans 24/7.
-

Fluffy
Fluffy is a beautiful dark gray long-haired beauty that was returned to HART when her owner could no longer care for her. She is a very happy, playful, friendly, and very smart girl. She loves playing with the peacock feather and toys that are stringy and have a toy on the end. She loves to sit in the window and watch birds, but most of all - loves snuggles with all her roommates - she’s an absolute sweetheart and a volunteer favorite here at HART.
-

Freya
Freya is a beautiful dilute tortie who was adopted from HART as a kitten, then later returned due to litterbox issues likely caused by chronic bladder irritation. Now on medication and a primarily wet-food diet, her behavior has completely subsided. Freya is affectionate, enjoys petting, and loves wand and spring toys. She is a wall-flower that tends to keep to herself unless she is approached in which she shows her outgoing and sweet personality. She is a gem and is looking for a forever home of her own
-

Galileo
This gorgeous young Snowshoe Siamese boy has pure white feet and luxurious fur. This shy boy came to us as a stray from a nearby town and is now part of HART’s Shy Angels team. Galileo must have been on his own outside for some time because he has been very fearful of human interaction. He is now allowing head, neck and full body pets! If a volunteer puts their hand in front of him, he will use your hand to pet himself—apparently he just wants to be in control. A back scratcher is one of his favorite things. Galileo is starting to put himself out there a little more often.
-

Houdini
Houdini is a striking senior black cat with the silkiest fur ever! He’s a big, gentle soul who adores treats, belly rubs, and soaking up attention from everyone. He shares a special bond with his best friend Shylo, often lounging or exploring their room together. Houdini does well with his feline roommates also. When Houdini and Shylo first arrived at HART, they both were very fearful and we wondered if they’d ever trust people again. Thanks to the patience and love of our Shy Angels team, he has blossomed into a confident and affectionate boy! Today, Houdini greets visitors with curiosity and has proven himself to be a sweet and loving cat who is ready to share his love with a forever home.
-

Jayden
Jayden a tiger with large green eyes, can be at times the sweetest cat, offering kisses and accepting of head pets but, will quickly let you know when enough is enough. Jayden came to HART during the winter of 2022. We don’t know much about Jayden’s past life, but she came in very under-socialized and fearful of people. She still tends to be more comfortable with the company of other cats rather than humans, but she has made great progress, thanks to Our Shy Angels Team who have been working with her to build her confidence and trust in people.
-

Joey
Joey is a sweet, handsome young black cat with a small white tuft on his chest who came to HART of Maine in 2024. Despite being blind, Joey navigates confidently with an adorable high-step. He loves being held, snuggling close, and giving kisses, always eager to show affection. Joey is calm and unfazed by his cat roommates, happy to hang out and make friends. While he enjoys the company of other cats, Joey dreams of a forever home where he can shower his family with endless love and devotion. This affectionate boy is ready to bring joy to his new family!
-

Kiwi
Kiwi is a gorgeous long-haired brown patch tabby lady with soulful eyes who is now enjoying the good life in one of HART’s foster homes. She is much happier in a quiet, loving home where she can get tons of attention. She came to HART from one of our rescue partners. This little senior lady is a puff ball and loves to purr and be petted. Kiwi arrived with some pre-existing health conditions, including skin allergies and a history of ear infections and urinary tract infections. Our medical team was successful in getting her off almost all of her medications and she now enjoys a special duck diet for her allergies. This sweet girl has been a favorite of everyone and is enjoying life as a foster kitty with one of her favorite volunteers.
-

Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe is a lovely young kitty with a beautiful white coat with black markings, along with golden eyes and a beauty spot on one side of her pink nose. This glamour puss came to HART from our rescue partner in Tennessee, and raised a litter of kittens who were all adopted. She’s ready to shine in her own spotlight and find her forever home. She prefers to make friends slowly and wants to be sure she’ll get loving pets! She is an alpha female cat, and can be particular about which of her feline roommates she will tolerate. And she’ll let humans know when she’s done with petting! Like any true celebrity, she only eats the finest of foods and is currently on a limited ingredient diet of duck and green pea. We tell her it’s because she’s special, but really it’s to help keep her allergies in check—she is prone to small bumps on the underside of her chin. Marilyn Monroe is a wonderful kitty, perhaps a little bit of a diva!
-

Molly
Molly is a sweet, quiet senior kitty who enjoys her calm room with other shy felines. She is a lovely tiger with lots of white, black and brown tiger markings and an adorable nose! Molly has been sad and frightened after being surrendered to HART twice—once when her owners moved and didn’t take her, and then most recently when her human sadly passed away. She is starting to like head and neck scratches and even hand massages by HART’s Shy Angels Team but still doesn’t like being picked up. We know that she just needs time, patience and love to bring out her true personality.
-

Myrtle
Myrtle is a smaller girl with beautiful grey and white markings and captivating eyes. She came to us from our rescue partners in Pennsylvania. A very friendly kitty, Myrtle will be the first one to greet you in her room. She loves scratches, plenty of attention, and being held. Myrtle adores being held, and if you’re not looking, she will jump on your shoulders (sometimes surprising unsuspecting volunteers) and demand to be carried around like the little queen she is.
-

Nefertiti
Nefertiti is very much a “people kitty.” She loves her humans and loves to sleep with them! Her favorite pastimes are lounging, receiving ear tip rubs and getting chin and cheek scratches. She especially loves getting brushed. Nef loves her quiet time and could be described as a couch potato...the main reason her weight needs to be monitored and playtime is so important. A senior lady, she still enjoys chasing balls and string toys. HART helped her overcome her hyperthyroidism with radioactive iodine treatments. She is now just on a medication to address aging aches and pains. Nef wants nothing more than to be brushed and cuddled all day! She is a real sweetheart!
-

Oleander
Oleander is a beautiful, senior kitty whose bright white fur, darling face, and polydactyl front paws really make her stand out from the crowd. Our patient Shy Angels Program volunteers have worked hard to gain her trust, and although she would prefer that humans keep their distance, around volunteers she knows well she will reveal the playful side of her personality and even allow gentle pets in exchange for treats. She gets along with her feline roommates, and is tightly bonded with Snickers.
-

Oswald
Oswald is a very sweet and adorable boy who came to HART in 2024 after being found as a stray living in a barn. When he first arrived, he was in pretty rough shape, with severely matted fur, significant dental disease, and diabetes. Since receiving a dental cleaning with extractions and having the mats shaved, he is feeling much more comfortable and looking so much better. His diabetes is currently managed with a low-carb, and twice-daily insulin injections. Oswald’s transformation has been remarkable, and he has become a favorite among our volunteers.
-

Peaks
Peaks is a handsome white cat with orange patches who, despite losing an eye to a severe infection, has adapted wonderfully. Friendly with staff, volunteers, and fellow cats, he will greet all visitors in his room with his cute little meow. Peaks is on antiviral and stress-relief medication and follows a special diet for bladder health. He loves lap cuddles and is often found napping on the bench with his roommates. With his gentle and sweet nature, Peaks is a true gem.
-

Shylo
Shylo is a gorgeous young black-and-white “cow kitty” with bright, soulful eyes and a gentle personality. She shares a very close bond with her best friend Houdini, and the two can often be found curled up together or moving around the room as a pair. Shylo loves treats, cozy spots to nap, and gentle attention from people she trusts. When Shylo first came to HART with Houdini, she was so frightened that she didn’t want anyone near her. With time, patience, and the dedication of our Shy Angels team, she has transformed into a sweet and approachable cat. Today, Shylo enjoys soft pets, seeks out attention, and shows just how much love she has to give! She is ready to start her next chapter (with Houdini) in their forever home.
-

Siesta
Siesta is a gorgeous grey tabby with adorable white paws. A senior lady, Siesta knows what she likes and doesn’t like. What she likes is being sweet-talked and petted gently! What she doesn’t like are loud and sudden movements, especially by people she doesn’t know. We think that’s pretty relatable. She lets you know when she needs her space. Sweet Siesta came to HART after her previous owner could sadly no longer provide for her. She does have a few health conditions (hyperthyroid and entropion, an eye condition), so she needs a home with an established vet relationship. Once she loves and trusts you, she will let you carry her around. And when she needs her meds, a little sweet talk goes a long way!
-

Snickers
Snickers is a very handsome senior Tuxedo cat who is reserved around people. A part of our Shy Angels Program, Snickers is a sweet kitty, not at all aggressive. He can often be found snuggled up with his best friend, Oleander, with whom he is very closely bonded. Once you gain his trust he will take treats out of your hand. Snickers loves to play with springs and jingle balls and at times will talk to you with his tiny meow.
-

Spunky
Spunky is a total sweetheart—so friendly and affectionate! A true lap cat, she would love nothing more than a home where she can snuggle and make herself comfy. She is a confident yet easy-going cat who likes to be the boss but has learned how to get along with other laid-back cats. She has enjoyed life in a loving foster home for several years where she likes to “help” with computer work and look out windows. Spunky enjoys a nice nap in her big comfy bed. If she can’t be found, she might be toasty sleeping under the covers! “Spunkster” also loves to be brushed till she shines. Spunky has a heart condition which is checked regularly. However, there has been very little change in her condition for several years and we feel it should not stop her from being in a loving home where she’ll get and give love 24 hours a day. This senior girl is not shy and likes everyone she meets—she just wants lots of love!
-

Theodore
Theodore is a gentle, dark brown tabby with endearing, slightly tattered ears and extra thumbs on his front paws. A senior boy, he arrived at HART with his brother Albert. Initially reserved and sad, he has since warmed up and now shows his sweet, affectionate side. Theodore loves pets, scritches, and catnip toys. His favorite spots to relax are up high in his room, where he can get a birds-eye view. He has manageable hyperthyroidism and does well on a duck protein diet. Theo is waiting for his forever home.
-

Vito
Vito is a gentle brown tabby with white on his face and chest, a pink nose, and a permanent wink. Good Samaritans found him living in their barn, injured and in need of help. After months of trying, they successfully trapped him in the fall of 2024 and brought him to HART for a fresh start. Once in our care, we discovered he is diabetic and had chronic ear infections. With treatment and care, including the surgical removal of his injured eye, Vito has been doing much better. He gets along well with his feline roommates and would thrive in a patient, loving home.
-

Wally
Wally is a petite, big-eyed sweetheart arrived at HART in the summer of 2024 through no fault of her own. Blind and initially frightened in her new environment, she has adjusted beautifully, proving just how resilient she is. Using her ears to navigate, Wally has even started recognizing her favorite volunteers—especially when they come bearing Churu treats! Despite her blindness, Wally doesn’t let anything slow her down. She loves carrying her favorite green toy balls in her mouth and batting them around with pure joy. Now, she’s looking for a forever home where she can share her love.
-

Willow
Willow is a handsome black male house panther with a cute patch of white on his chest. This guy is living proof that age is only a number—though a senior, he has the energy level of the Energizer Bunny in the body of an adult cat. Willow needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation to burn off some of his energy. He’ll do great in an active home where people understand that he needs a busy, fun environment. He especially enjoys playing with a peacock feather, a mouse on a string, and tissue paper! Willow will nip once in a while if he hasn’t used up some of his pent-up energy, so he needs a fun house, but one without young children. We think he is a very sophisticated-looking cool cat with striking eyes!
