HART Programs
MOMMY AND ME
HART’s Mommy & Me Program is a great resource for people who have a pregnant cat, or a new mom cat with kittens, who need our assistance. HART will help care for the mother cat through birth and post-birth, help raise her kittens, and provide essential medical care to all. Then, we spay and neuter the kittens (and their mom!), find loving homes for the kittens, and return mommy to her family. In the end, everyone is happy and well cared for.
THE BURT FUND
In April 2019, a stray cat came to HART and captured our hearts and hopes. When he first arrived at HART, Burt was quite scared and unsure of his surroundings and would lash out in fear. Through the hard work of HART volunteers, our staff, and Burt himself, he became comfortable with the people around him. Burt found a home with a loving family who asked us to hold a fundraiser in Burt’s name to help HART raise money to cover the expenses for the care of other stray kitties like Burt. To honor Burt’s memory and legacy, his family and HART have partnered to establish “The Burt Fund” as a permanent fundraiser. We use all monies raised to provide the medical care and other support needed to restore and maintain the health of stray cats that come into our care, with the goal of finding them adoptive forever homes.
SHY ANGELS
HART’s Shy Angels are a special group of cats who arrive at our shelter unsure of people and easily frightened by noise and activity. We gently work with them to help them learn that humans can be kind, trustworthy friends. Earning their trust can take weeks, months, or even years—but we are committed to keeping them safe, loved, and supported for as long as it takes to find their perfect home.
Because our shelter is small, this program is very limited in the number of cats we can accept. We need to allow our team to do their best work without overloading the program. We urge you to work with your shy or fearful cat within your home, whenever possible, since staying in a familiar environment often leads to the best outcome for both you and your cat.

Our team members are not experts and cannot offer advise on how to best treat your own “shy angel” in your home.
We couldn't do this without your help.
HART receives no public funding and is supported entirely by individual donors, foundations, and businesses, not to mention our committed group of volunteers. And, as you can imagine, the cost of providing long-term care for these cats adds up.
Therefore, we are calling on our community to help defray the costs required to ensure cats that come to HART are provided with the care they need to live long lives and bring joy to those families who will eventually welcome them into their homes.
